When I think about the vulnerability of a woman I think of all the close relationships I’ve had with women. I’ve had the pleasure of having more than one best friend in my life, eventually growing past a friendship. I love growing a bond with people in general but their is nothing like a sisterly bond. There is something that clicks inside the relationship and you realize you don’t ever want be out of contact with this person. You can’t comprehend how you were getting through life without them. No man can ever come between you two.

The trust you share is built on an open heart, you share all your secrets; past and present. This is the first person you call for the most insignificant shit, you know their the only ones who will listen, laugh, and care just because it’s you. They’ve seen you naked, shit, piss, with no make-up, at your worst, hair undone devastated over a man, thrilled at your promotion. You lean on this woman for emotional support and you look to her confirmation to call him back. She is your biggest fan and you can’t seem to go anywhere without a compliment from her reinforcing how great you feel. With a penis she could possibly be your boyfriend.

This is the only way I can sympathize with a man too scared to commit. I completely and genuinely understand. I have seen some of my girlfriends so vulnerable to me it was frightening. I know my words are powerful and mean a lot, so I can break a piece of her down, just like that. Its scary as shit, to see it in someone’s eyes, that flicker of trust and fear. You can see them praying a silent prayer hoping you will be careful with their heart. I see why so many men open a woman’s heart only to run away from its rawest form. I get that entirely. But honestly it’s an honor to have anyone in that way, it’s something you shouldn’t abuse and ever take for granted.

My daughter wasn’t born into royalty, but she was born into a country where she can now vote, become a doctor, a pilot, an astronaut, or even President if she wants and that’s what really matters. I wanted her to know the value of these amazing women who had gone against everything so she can now have everything. We chose 5 women (five amazing and strong women), as it was her 5th birthday but there are thousands of unbelievable women (and girls) who have beat the odds and fought (and still fight) for their equal rights all over the world.

I prefer this WAY more than that fad/trend of folks reenacting pictures from their childhood.

It is the devil’s tool to keep us from enjoying our lives and moving forward with what God has for us. When we attempt to walk in faith, Satan immediately tries to hinder us through many things, including fear. Fear of failure, judgment or criticism will cause us to bury our talents. It will make us draw back and live in misery and torment. Unless we make a firm decision to “fear not,” we will never be free from its power.

Being negative and being confident do not go together. Like oil and water, they just don’t mix. One of the worst things you and I can do is to focus on what we don’t have or have lost and fail to take an inventory of what we do have. I call it living in a state of “if only.” Does this sound familiar: “If only I had more education…more money…more opportunity. If only I were taller, shorter, older, younger…” and the list goes on.

Secret #7—A Confident Woman Takes Action

I have heard it said that there are two types of people in the world: those who wait for something to happen and those who make something happen. It’s true that we need to be careful not to get ahead of God, but we also must be mindful not to be lagging behind. I believe we need to step out into things and find out what God has for us. As I said earlier, if we make a mistake it is not the end of the world.
